We invite you to call upon us in these difficult times—just to make a friendly connection, and/or to help problem-solve around the issues/challenges that may arise. A Community-Driven Approach to School Change

Mission:
The Essex County Learning Community (ECLC) is a network of educators challenging bias and disrupting inequitable systems to drive sustainable change in public schools.
Vision:
Within a nurturing, cross-district community of practice, educators continuously develop the mindsets, strategies and tools they need to create cultures of belonging in schools–for both students and adults.
What We Believe...
The research is clear: when teachers are learning, so are their students. Moreover, when educators are appreciated as valued professionals, on a par with other professionals in our society, they are better able to appreciate the rich array of students who enter their schools and classrooms.
The Essex County Learning Community (ECLC) serves educators in small and medium-sized school districts in close geographic proximity to one another. Taking a relational approach, we gather superintendents, principals, department directors, and teachers together on a deep journey toward more effectively meeting the needs of all their students. Specifically, we focus on appreciating the learning assets and better addressing the needs of students with learning disabilities, learning and attention issues, and exposure to trauma, as well those who have not been served well under past and current systems because of structural inequities based on race, culture, income, language, and gender.
ECLC believes that trusting relationships among educators are the foundation for personal and professional growth, just as they are for students. The ECLC opens up the time and space for facilitated conversation and reflection, for state-of-the-art learning with national and regional experts, and for collaboration toward much greater impact.
