The ECLC Team
On behalf of Full Frame Communications and the Center for Collaborative Education (CCE), we are delighted to cordially invite you to attend the fourth annual Essex County Learning Community (ECLC) Summer Institute, which will be held virtually on August 3,4, and 5, 2021. As special guests of ECLC, we hope you can join us for morning and afternoon Keynote presentations on Days 1 and 2 (August 3 and 4), and a morning Keynote presentation on Day 3 (August 5). You can learn more about the Summer Institute, in our one-pager about ECLC’s annual signature professional development event at this link. This year's theme, "Lift Every Voice" has multiple meanings for these times. First and foremost, it is a tribute to the racial awakening that was catalyzed by the death of George Floyd last summer – and it is a reference to the song, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," often referred to as “The Black National Anthem,” which was written as a poem by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) and then set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954) in 1899. Secondly, as we prepare for a life less encumbered by the virus, we will be faced with the momentous tasks of recovery, renewal, and reinvention. These adaptive challenges will require us to flex our collective social muscle, thus everyone must bring their most authentic voices to the choir of reimagining a prosperous future for Essex County and beyond. At this year’s ECLC Summer Institute, we will reflect on the past year and look ahead to the future, with equity in the foreground. We are delighted to welcome several renowned national and regional speakers, including Debbie Irving, Bettina Love, and Eddie Moore, Jr., who will address cultural responsiveness, systems that support sustainable change, and equitable practices that reach a broad swath of students. Together, this summer, we will breathe life into the words that inspired this year's theme, lifting all our voices to bring about an ever more inclusive, equitable, and hopeful future in Essex County. Please choose your affiliation to sign up: for ECLC member-districts, please register here; for all other Essex County-based educators who are not from ECLC member-districts, please register here. (Note: Zoom platform links will be made available to registered participants for each day’s events.) We look forward to sharing these robust days of learning with you as our special guests of ECLC! In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to Emily Wilson, Project Manager, with any questions at ewilson[@]fullframecommunications.com.
